With the founders of Fashism!

Kicked off another amazing New York Fashion Week with a Glam Dinner. This time it’s presented by American Express, and we dined in The Library at Soho House. It’s always an amazing time meeting new bloggers and reuniting with the old friends. There is nothing better than fashion + food. Seriously….

Katya Leonovich Fall 2012

by blackblondeone

For those not familiar with Katya Leonovich, she uses a signature “Beautiful Garbage” aesthetic. She loves to mix traditional fabrics like gauze with the unusual, such as aluminum. For the AW 2012 collection, she continued with the idea of mixing the soft, flowy fabrics with the more structured styles to create a beautiful collaboration between the two. The major themes touched on a whimsical nature of a beautiful nearly pastel print combined with the tough appeal of leather. The collection was about blending the two very contrasting styles.

Katya mixed metallic gauze with quilted olive nylon to create a seamless look. It was the perfect marriage of naughty and nice. Both her leather dress and chiffon gowns offered cut outs and romantic fringe draping, which offered a very romantic, yet sensual look. The prints were probably the highlight of the show. With a teal, purple, and magenta, it showcased a fresh new color scheme for fall. The presentation offered a very feminine feel with lots of draping and rouching, which showcased the traditional s-silhouette. Another good sign? The use of python. It’s here to stay!

Overall the presentation was exactly what Katya represents: a unique mix of textures, silhouettes, and fabrics that come together beautifully.

Obakki Fall 2012

This Vancouver-based luxury brand embodies the modern women, who loves to look effortlessly chic. I was completely in love with the last number. I love clothes with movement. I think it really accentuates a female’s body, and the finale dress was everything this girl could wish for. The thing that caught my attention about Obakki, was its non-profit counterpart. The Obakki Foundation line’s proceeds all go to benefit developing countries to provide them with support and empowerment.

More photos from the show can be found on my Flickr page.

What a great show to kick off NYFW! I will be at the IFB Conference tomorrow and finishing the day off with the Glam Media dinner at Soho House!! For up to the minute details check the LIVE section of the blog and follow me on Twitter
