Throwback!

If there is any post that is overdue, it’s this one. Masquey and I came here in January 2011. That’s about 10 months ago. Yikes! I’ve Tweeted and Facebooked the experience, but alas… now I am finally publishing this on the blog. The photos were taken then with my iPhone 4, if you were wondering about the difference in quality? It’s hard to believe that I just upgraded to my Nikon d3100 12 weeks ago. The two of us came to celebrate our birthdays. This was also around when we met Bianca and Mallory of Small Girls PR, who repped Spot (via Twitter at the Yelp Snow Ball). Such love.

I’ve taken and recommended so many people to this place since our first venture. The place is easy to miss, since it’s located below Pho 32 on Saint Marks Place, but once you’re in, it’s the sweetest little joint (pun intended). I highly recommend the deconstructed cheesecake to everyone. It’s the bomb diggity! The different flavors just dance around on your palate. Here’s what we had…

Soft Cheesecake passion foam, blueberry compote, seasonal citrus, walnut soil

Yuzu Eskimo blackberries, raspberry foam, chocolate pearls, oreo soil, chocolate ganache

There is a great selection of ice creams and bubble teas if your heart desires. Both are pretty darn good as well. Can’t wait to go back!

Welcome to the first post of a new series called his&hers :):)

HER’S: Cappuccino

I had a $10 gift card to Aroma Espresso Bar, thanks to event at The Holiday Shops. Apparently, Andy had already frequented this place, so it was really just me trying it for the first time. There are three locations in New York City; one in Soho, UWS and by Grand Central. We went to the one by GC because it would probably be super crowded in the other locations, including the pop-up one that’s a part of The Holiday Shops in Bryant Park. He was sold on his Mocha and I wanted to try the Cappuccino.

We both shared a chocolate croissant, which was oozing with chocolate. Love! (Had to save room for All-You-Can-Eat shabu-shabu for dinner). It was a Sunday evening when we went. It wasn’t packed, and people trickled in and out — some staying for the free wifi. Overall, its a nice getaway for some warm coffee. The latte art is a nice touch.

Four Cheese Mexican Pizza For One

Table for one?

Yes, please! Since I don’t really cook, I rather order in or heat up a quick bite — preferably a single-serve dish. Who wants to clean up and fridge leftovers? Not I, that’s for sure.

Enter Rustic Crust. It’s organic and needs no refrigeration. I love that it comes with its own pizza sauce, so you only need to worry about getting your favorite toppings. Perfect for those days when I feel homey and want to ~~cook~~ make food for myself.

I’m going to share my personal recipe. It’s a 4 cheese Mexican pizza — fully packed with flavor. I used Pepperoni (see photo above) but prefer Chorizo.

Your Choice of Rustic Crust
Tomato sauce
Pepperoni or Chorizo
Monterey Jack
Cheddar
Queso Quesadilla
Asadero

Prepare Preheat oven to 450°. Simply spread the tomato sauce all over the crust. Mix the four cheeses liberally all over. Really layer them on. Add either the pepperoni or chorizo on top.

Bake Place your personal pan on the oven rack and bake for 5-7 minutes until the all the cheese has melted and the pepperoni/chorizo crisps lightly. The crust should be toasty.

Serve Enjoy!
