DailyBuzz Style 9x9: Day to Night Look

So I’ve been selected for this month’s Dailybuzz Style 9x9 challenge! The challenge is to create an easy and simple day to night look. I have the perfect eyeshadow palette for this, and the perfect color scheme — lilac. I’ve been so inspired by lilacs and lavenders. For my daytime look, I wanted to add some color to the face to give it some life — otherwise, I’ll look sleepy.

To start, I prepped my face. This means putting on my foundation, eyeshadow primer and lip conditioner. I used…

I swear by these products! They are easy to fit in your makeup bag for touchups and pack a punch. If your lips are chapped or dry, put some of the Jouer lip conditioner on and when you are ready for your lipstick, your lips will feel super SOFT.

Now to add some pretty color to the eyes! Purple tones really complement brown eyes. I am using the Wet n Wild Color Icon in Petal Pusher. I love how versatile this product is. You can go from natural to dramatic in minutes. First I highlight my browbone to define the arch and brush on the eyeshadow all over.

Now for the mascara and blush. For the mascara, I am using M.A.C.’s Haute and Naughty, which is great for situations like this. It splits into two wands — one for basic application and one for a more dramatic look. Use the pink side for day and the purple glittery side for nighttime drama. The blush below is my everyday favorite. It is just the right amount of pink for my skintone to make it look rosy. I am using Sue Devitt Silky Blush in Vanuatu.

My favorite part is lipstick! I opted for a cheerful pink color that isn’t overbearing. I am using Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Pink (6).

So when your day is done, and it’s time to let loose. Simply add drama to the eyes and it makes the world of a difference! First, I defined my eyes with my Youngblood Gel Liner in Black Orchid. I’m keeping all my eye makeup in the purple to lavender category. Taking the same palette as earlier, shade in the crease area with the darker purple shadow on really make your eyes pop. If you want, you can shade in your eyebrow to frame your face better. Don’t forget to line your bottom lash line!

There you have it! A flirty day look that can be easier transformed into a sexy night look using the same palette and some of your regular makeup.

December MyGlam Makeup Bag! (2011)

Better late than never, right? I signed up for the MyGlam.com monthly beauty subscription service about a month ago and got its inaugural makeup bag early this month. It’s also $10 a month, like Birchbox, started by YouTube beauty star, Michelle Phan. You take a beauty quiz to create a profile that determines the type of products you get. Major love! I honestly feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth this month. I’m so happy it contained some full-sized and large samples of MAKEUP. Not skincare, food or random supplements but MAKEUP!!

Ok, so here’s what I got:

The website itself is an thriving community of beauty lovers with a set of YT gurus creating stylist videos on how to use the products. I’m pretty much loving it.

For the makeup looks, I used everything I got in the bag plus my own foundation and eyeliner. I can’t wait for the January GlamBag! It was an absolute delight to get in the mail.

Today’s post features a new lip gloss I received in my Holiday VoxBox, compliments of Influenster. I’ve been looking for the perfect nude for everyday and days when I wear dramatic eye makeup. I am wearing the NYC New York Color Liquid Lipshine in Nude York City. It’s pretty pigmented and the pure pigments give a 3D effect on top of the shine! The non-sticky formula is packed with Vitamin E to keep your puckers nourished and moisturized — perfect for the dry winter coming. Not to mention, it smells good, like warm vanilla…

For this look, I went with earthy tones — a nude eyeshadow eye with browns and forest greens mixed in. Instead of blush, I used bronzer to keep with the theme of warm tones. No eyeliner, just eyeshadow with a smudger brush! Finish with mascara, et voila!

Do you dare wear bold lip colors? I take the dare. Normally, I stick to nudes and light pinks, but I am gutsying up for the holidays. Nothing screams holiday glamour to me than a deep rouge on the lips. It’s decadent. In making this video, I was pretty excited to bring alive the look the best I can. Translating the idea from my head to face and video was a bit tricky, but here’s what I got :)

I downplayed the eyeshadow since the attention will be on the kissers. I went with a sheer white shimmer all over the eyelid as a base and some sparkly glittery icy blues in the corners of my eyes to make it really pop. It sucks that I am emerging from a few lovely breakouts, but the show must go on, right?

I love the winged liner/cat eye look. It adds an extra kick to the look. This time i smudged it out a bit so the lines aren’t too harsh, especially on the bottom line. A light pink blush to keep your cheeks rosy and finish of with the bold red lip — red wine in this case!

5 Minute Bright Eyes

We’ve all been there. Scrambling in the morning after a long night of…parties, studying, or even working. Here’s a five-minute makeup fix to give you back some time so you can grab your favorite coffee and perhaps, a chocolate croissant before work or class. With this trick, not only do you cut your makeup application time, but it’s a quick fix to give your tired eyes a boost.

We can skip the face primer, foundation, concealer and blush, because… who are we kidding?

Time is ticking! Here’s what I used:

The Socializer Pen in Bright Lights
e.l.f. Cosmetics Eye Widener in Pearl White
Maybelline Master Drama Eyeliner in Midnight Master
Youngblood Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Pink Diamond
Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Very Cherry #635

Shimmer, my friends is key in this situation. First, use the Socializer pen under your eye to recover them. What I love about this pen is the fact it is designed for mornings to soothe, depuff and diminish dark circles. Now to brighten the eyes. Apply the Pink Diamond or any pink to white shimmer shadow, from your lids up to the eyebrow bone. Don’t forget the inner corners of your eyes! Use a white to light nude eyeliner and line your waterline to open up your eyes, then finish off with with your favorite eyeliner. I did my usual winged liner on top and went halfway on the bottom to keep the eyes open.

P.S. Just putting on a red lip perks up an exhausted face!

Sometimes, you want to get things done at lightening speed. Then, you will have more time to do things you love, like have breakfast in the morning. I hope you find this trick helpful!
